Routine and Comfort, Escape and Change

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

If I lived in a perfect world, I'd have today off - a day to overcome the jet lag - a day to unpack and do laundry - a day to recover from the past month of travel and "vacation." Unfortunately, bills need to be paid, money needs to be made and I need to keep my employer happy.

I've certainly missed the blogsphere and all of you! Although I've done fairly well keeping up with all of you, commenting on your posts (my favorite part of blogging) has been sporadic at best. I'm actually looking forward to getting back into my routine. There is great comfort in routine and sameness - sometimes too much ...

“I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.”
~ Jim Rohn

Routine certainly does have its upside. I don't mind a bit of it in my life. But man, when I go on vacation I always have a day off scheduled from when I return. Good Luck with jumping right back in. Cheers!!

Welcome back! I will let you know that you have my wife hooked on your blog as well. She is a lurker. Doesn't blog. Doesn't have a blog account but does read yours....

I generally try to plan my vacations so I get home with at least one day to regroup before returning to work. I sort of like to have my suitcase emptied and some laundry done before I return to the grind.

I don't know. It seems like it doesn't matter how many days you have free at home after vaca the first day back is still going to be brutal. In fact, if you have a couple of days before going back to work it just makes you dread going back even more.

Or maybe that's just me. ;-)

Welcome back.

Saying that reminds me of another time, a few years ago, that I posted that same comment on a blog. I then followed up with "your dreams were your ticket out"...to crickets. Apparently I am the only one who ever watched Welcome Back Kotter. Sheesh.

Matt-Man, I would have enjoyed a day in between, but I had to take Monday and Tuesday off without pay (ran out of paid vacation), making the return to work today necessary.

Flyinfox_SATX, thank you! Uh-oh ... another lurker to add to the list. At least she can't say anything mean *wink*

Karen, this has been such an odd summer for us - so many activities/travel smooshed into a short period of time. It just didn't lend itself to easy transitions.

Jay, I've always said you were special ...

3carnations, fortunately, I think most of my readers were alive when Welcome Back Kotter was on. *raises hand* OOOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOOHHHHH!

I hear you. Vacations sometimes need a post vacation for recovery.

Having a routine, but knowing when you MUST break it and get wild is one of those skills not everyone learns in life...you seem to have done so

Lottery tickets. Winning lottery tickets, could cure a lot of our issues Dana.

I am such a creature of habit. I think it caught up with me when I became a stay at home mom. I need a routine to help me feel productive - also if I didn't, I'd spend all day watching trashy TV shows like Maury.

No matter how much fun I had on a vacation, I always come home thinking I need a vacation from my vacation. ;)

Good to have you back!

I get in a shitty mood when it's time to get back into the "normal" routine. I guess it just varies from person to person. I am just not one of those who handle it well.

Having said that, it's good to have you back!

I hate laundry so run around naked most of the time. It saves on laundry.
