When I went out to take my HNT - Soul in Bloom shots a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that the plant in one of my hanging planters looked quite flat. Upon closer inspection I discovered this:
This happened last year too, but during a spring storm, the hanging basket swayed so much that the eggs fell out. Nature is such a bitch!
This year? No strong winds and now it's not safe to venture out on the front porch. Why? Well, mama bird is a bit protective of her babies!

I suppose I could let the cats out to take care of the attack robin ... let all of the little neighborhood kids learn about nature in the flesh. Oh, I forgot! The neighbors won't let them visit the redneck Christmas light house.

Robin? Eggs looked like it... I like it when my neighbors don't speak to me- we wave at each other as we drive off...
We had little wren eggs in our hanging baskets. Then one day...POOF. They were gone. Not hatched. Just gone.
Nature IS a bitch!
Probably that big ass snake!
Mmmmmmmmm. Robin eggs are delicious, albeit a bit gamey. Cheers!!
do the lights still being up really tick off the neighbors?
The baby bird thing is kinda cool...
hitchcock, eat your heart out!
buffalodick, she does appear to be a robin or the red breast genus.
Real Live Lesbian, I bet it was that snake, but "nature" got the best of the snake too!
Matt-Man, I like them on my sushi!
katherine, in a neighborhood where folks pay big $$ for landscape contractors to do their holiday decorating, yes! But this was husband's doing so it will be his undoing.
the eternal list, no kidding! The most difficult thing was holding still as the robin came within inches of my head!
I say set up a webcam, let the cats out and film your own Animal Planet special.
Neat! I think we must have some robin eggs nearby too, because there's a fat momma robin combing our backyard for worms and such and she's aggressive!
Iwas at a drive thru yesterday and a mama bird was just crazily flying around picking up bugs and the odd french fry to give her babies. They were so cute with their little heads poking out of the hole and carrying on...you could almost hear the, "mom! mom! me first, me first!"
Nature does find a way....
At least you don't treat them the way I treated the baby sparrows living in my awning!
There is usually a robin's nest in the small tree at the back corner of our house, but not this year.
Just go for it Dana. Turn the lights on this summer a couple of nights per week. Then blame it on the hubby.
the lady next door has a nest above her doorway. it's so lovely to see a little nature up close, but poor mama bird. :(
Boy is she upset. LOL
That is sooo cool where they were dumb enough to lay them! The colors are really pretty together in the first pic...
Let the kitties out :) That'll learn em...
Those eggs are my favorite color.
