Friday Wrap-Up

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It is Friday, right?? What a week - sales training at work (I didn't attend, but it always makes the work environment a bit more tense) - dinner with husband at my favorite micro-brewery on Tuesday - Cam's church youth group on Wednesday - back to my favorite microbrewery on Thursday for dinner with the sales force. Tonight? Other than cooking Thai Peanut Stir-Fry for dinner, the evening is mine! WooHoo!!

~*~*~*~*~

Our summer schedule is firming (and busying) up.

Cam's "official" last day of school is June 18th, however his last attendance day will be June 9th as we are heading to San Antonio June 10th (for a graduation June 11th) and won't be returning until June 18th. This will be an interesting vacation as we are visiting husband's family, but he will be there June 11th through the 14th only (he and step-daughter have work/school obligations). Cam, step-son and I will be there the remaining time without him. I'm looking forward to it!

Cam has football camp the week of June 22 - 26th. He is so excited about being able to play football this year - I hope it goes well for him.

Once Cam is done with football camp, I'm sending him off to church camp (almost as disturbing as sending him to band camp)! He'll be there June 29th - July 3rd. This will be his first "overnight" camp and the first time I have ever been away from him for more than 24 hours. Yes, I know, he's 13 and will be fine, but will I be fine??

July 4th we head to Spokane. We'll be there through the 14th. This is another vacation sans husband - he doesn't visit my family *shrugs* Actually, that is probably a good thing! This is a story in and of itself as husband had agreed to purchase the airfare for Cam and I to take this trip, then backed out of the commitment. At 44, I had to ask my parents for help in purchasing the airfare (Can we say humbling?).

Football season starts July 20th, so we'll get back just in time for 2-a-day practices for Cam. I think this is the busiest summer we've had.

Any of you ever write a post and sit on it, trying to decide if you really want to share your convoluted thinking with seventeen people who read you the world? I've got one of those - a follow-up of sorts to my I'm Tired post earlier this week. Maybe I'll get stupid brave this weekend and put it out there.

I delete a lot of blogs that never make it to post! Glad to hear I am not the only one to do it. As for the busy summers...I remember having both boys in baseball and the daughter in softball all summer. With the hubby and I it was tough to watch all 3. Some nights we were at the diamonds from 5 til 10. We ate a ton of fast food those summers. I loved it, but really don't miss it! Enjoy your vacations with Cam this summer, it will be memories he will never forget!

Damn, that IS a busy summer!

Don't worry, Cam'll be fine at camp. You might want to find some xanax, though! ;) I remember how my mom was when I first went away. Another spoiled only child, here. ;)

That is busy! But sounds like fun for Cam.

June 18?? That sounds super late. We're done May 26 and that's even with extra make up days.

Does his school allow him to take finals and such early? I know ours have a limit on days you can miss, I think it's five. Everything after that is unexcused and stuff can't be made up.

I have lots of posts like that in my head. I say go for that, I may get some guts reading yours and post mine.

Dang girl, I do that with almost every post.

Hope it is busy later on in the summer also!

HEHEHEHE

Granny Nanny, now see? I never delete the posts, just leave them hanging out in la-la draft land. Baseball/softball ... UGH! I did a secretive happy dance when Cam decided NOT to play baseball this season. At least football games are only once a week!

Real Live Lesbian, as a parent, you sometimes get caught up in all that the kids need. The thought of FIVE days - without having to yell, "Get off the phone" or "Is your room clean?" is so foreign! I also know that that the transition from camp to heading out to Spokane (less than 24 hours) is going to be an interesting one!

M, it will be the first time that he has had so much planned. Last summer he was home - alone - much of the time. June 18th is late. We started school after Labor Day this year due to construction going on at the middle school, then had to make up 5 snow days. Next year he'll be going from August 31st - June 8th - not quite so bad!

It sounds like you have a busy summer planned.

It will be fun.

Only seventeen readers? You know better...love your writing. Hoping you are more rested.

There are a million ways to be a good mother/wife and there is no way to be a perfect mother/wife. Be the mother & wife YOU want to be.

Make sure he gets enough liquids during those football practices. Practicing in the summer heat is brutal.

I have lots of blog posts that I just deleted before I posted them and I have a few just sitting there as word documents on my desktop. Maybe someday I'll do a "lost posts series." Or maybe they'll be gathered and edited and published after my death. Or my blog's death. Whichever comes first. Kind of like the lost "Honeymooners" episodes. LOL ;-)

Many days I wish I hadn't left San Antonio. It's a cool town.

Sounds like a busy summer - but it also sounds very interesting. No one sitting around saying "I'm bored!" :-)

I've been in that "ask the parents as a grown adult" situation before. Definitely uncomfortable. Part of me likes to think that they're happy you asked, and that they're still "needed". If, of course, they can help.

And I don't know...did you miss something? :-P

Bond, you know I'll try to be busy later in the summer - honest!!

ASM, yes, it should be a lot of fun - and some time for reflecting without the constant input!

Bette, I ignore that I have any readers, or I'd probably go into cyber shock and quit writing the insane posts that I sometimes do!

Nolens Volens, the only problem being that there is some conflict between the wife I want to be and the wife husband wants to have!

Jay, "The Lost Cynical Bastard" does have a certain ring to it, doesn't it?

Evil Twin's Wife, Cam is 13 ... of course there is still plenty of time for him to sit around and say, "I'm bored!"

Osbasso, I do think my parents are thrilled that they will get to see Cam and I again this year, and I realize the importance to them (I must be growing up) so I quit being stubborn and just asked. Fortunately, my mom was able to cover one of the tickets and I was able to cover the other!

And you are a tease :-P

Please don't take offense cause you know I think you rock but you are stupidbrave, yes one word, stupidbrave. Oh and your hubs is just stupid but he is all yours :)

Vixen said...

Oh yes. I have written numerous posts, kept them in draft and then later deleted them or...they still sit.

Sounds like a very busy summer for you! I'm glad despite your husband you still get to go visit your family. :)

I think I have 4 or 5 posts sitting in draft status that I'm not sure what to do with. Publish now? Delete? Wait til another time?

Sounds like quite the summer for Cam!

Just Me said...

I too have posts sitting in draft that I wonder if I will or will not post.

I was going to ask about baseball, but I seen you commented on that.

Does sound like a busy summer. But a fun one.

I hear ya on camp. Mine is 14 and once went away with a friend of ours. He was fine, and didn't want to check in. Me? Basket case!! Seriously!! Always harder on the moms then kids.

You are going to have a busy (in a good way) first 1/2 of summer! I'm sure Cam will like church camp. If it's anything like my step-son's, they have SO much to do that they are worn out by the time they get home!

And hey, at least you aren't driving to Washington this time. Didn't you do that some months back?

And I say post it. It's yours, we love reading anything about you, and who cares about the negative comments? (okay, sometimes I care) You have us supporters who have got your back.
