A Little Fun on Monday!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I thought Monday might be a good time for a GIVEAWAY! And because I've been extremely irresponsible I like you all so much, I'm actually going to give away two things to two lucky readers. Does it get any better than that? Of course it does, but on a Monday, this is as good as it gets!

First, way back in September, I won a drawing for a copy of "The Fourth Turning" from Jay (Cynical Bastard).

This was meant to be the start of a pay it forward kind of thing. Fortune Cookies, originally read the book and passed along to another blogger. When Jay passed the book on, he mentioned that it would be a fun thing to watch the journey of the book through the blogsphere. Then the book found it's way to my house and has been on hiatus (sorry!). It has now been begging to have it's pages fondled by another blogger. Who am I to say no? This book is not "light" reading, (click on the title link for more information) but is an excellent book. If you are a reader who prefers "mind candy," you might want to skip this one.

Next we have a brand-spankin' new copy of Tony Dungy's "Uncommon" (the copy I read was checked out from the library).

Although this book is geared towards men, its message - finding your path to significance - is one that certainly crosses gender lines. I found the book to be quite inspirational and a wonderful insight into raising Cam to be a successful and "significant" man. There is a CLEAR, Christian/Biblical leaning to this book. Tony Dungy is a Christ Follower who doesn't attempt to hide his faith. If just hearing "Christ Follower" makes you want to roll your eyes, you might want to skip this one.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to leave me a comment telling me which book you are interested in and why. Yes, you can put your name in for both of them if you'd like. I will draw names from all comments left no later that Thursday at 5PM central time. And yes, this means you will be subjected to a vlog (haven't had one of those in a while) of me selecting the winners.

Just remember, if you are a lucky winner, you'll have to give me your name and address. I know - scary thought!

Well let me put my name in the hat for Uncommon. I shared an elevator with him once, shook his hand, and immediately wanted to be a better man. There's just something so inspiring and kind about Mr. Dungy.

If I win, I'll be more than happy to pay it forward when I'm finished reading it.

Great post. Have a nice day.

You can certainly put my name in for either book. I wanted to alert you, however, to a really fun site. You want to know where those books go? Why not register at www.bookcrossing.com? Register those books before you pass them on. Then with the label in the books, people will be able to go to the sight and catalog where the book has been.

Its pretty neat!

I want to put my name in for the first one....nothing against Uncommon but The Fourth Turning sparked my interest....addresses some of the things I have been thinking about lately.....and I love the idea of passing it around!

Have a great week Dana....and I was struck by something in these pics.....Your eyes are beautiful...there is a depth in them that expresses so much!

I have already read Uncommon. Tony Dungy was in NY for a while and I always liked his style - if no the way he killed my beloved football team.

I will jump into the pay it forward pool. I didn't win the Mega-millions, but this could be just as good.

13messages, I was hoping you'd stop by as I know you have shown some interest in "Uncommon."

NE~ISM, hang in there toots, and stop by whenever you need something to help put you to sleep!

flyinfox-satx, that is an EXCELLENT idea! I actually registered for that site years ago and forgot all about it! I'll print up the labels and include those!

Breve, you actually put your name in for "The Fourth Turning" the last time I said I was going to do this. You might have just earned yourself a second entry!

And thank you for the eye compliment. I chalk it up to all of those "expression lines" that age has brought to me!

Karen, I will add you to "The Fourth Turning" drawing!

decisions decisions...

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for either book.

"Uncommon" appeals to me for "my cam" with the football backdrop of how a man of faith lives his life even while suffering the ultimate devastation. I hadn't thought about this book for him until now. If I don't "win" it from you...I may have to pick it up for him anyway.

I would personally enjoy reading "The Fourth Turning"...and I too love the idea of passing it around. I'd do a post give away as well....probably with out the vlog...smile.

great idea Dana!

I have a lot of respect for Tony and think he is a very honorable and decent man. He always brings an air of dignity to anyplace he visits. But, I also have a lot of disagreements with him too.

I think I'll pass on the book drawing though. I have read excerpts from that book and don't think it's for me. ;-)

Don't forget to sign the Fourth Turning before you pass it on. And make sure whomever wins it will do the same!

I am not putting my name in for the book, although I do like Tony D., but am stopping by to say hello!

I'd like to participate but alas I cannot. I don't trust my prcrastination to pass anything on in a timely manner. At least I have come to terms with that unfortunate trait of mine!! Cheers!!

Throw my name in the hat for both books. I like surprises.

I would be interested in the Tony Dungy book. He was the first black coach to win a Super Bowl, but I would be more interested in how he dealt with the loss of his son. I don't how any parent could deal with the loss of a child.
