First things first! Don’t you find that statement a bit annoying? I mean, where else would you put first things? Last? Wouldn’t they then be last things? And speaking of annoying (such a seamless transition) I’ve come to the conclusion that I can be annoying. I know … some of you are shaking your heads right now wondering if this is the first time I’ve realized this, and the answer is … really? I’m that annoying that often?
Here’s the deal, I am making a public apology to two bloggers today for my annoying ways. Both Emmy and Another Suburban Mom published posts over the past few weeks where, in a fit of anal retentiveness, I left a comment that was inappropriate. No, I wasn’t nasty – I was annoying. I had an epiphany while driving home last night and realized that, although my intent was good, my methods were not. Seriously, I didn’t even consider my annoying twit ways might be offensive until that moment in my car – days and weeks later.
So Emmy and ASM, I apologize for being an annoying twit. To any of the rest of you who have suffered through my annoying twit ways, biting your tongue andscreaming at the computer monitor shaking your head? I apologize to you too!
Remember my Positively Going? Or Going Positive? post? How could you forget? I keep bringing it up! Anyway, I predicted that I would lose a few regular readers and commenters. I did – and one of those hurt quite a bit - but you know what? I think I’ve gained about 10x the number I lost! How did that happen? I’ve seen a lot of new faces (and I’m trying to get to all of your blogs) and even a few folks who were MIA for a time. I didn’t do this for readership - I did it for me - but there sure was a warm and fuzzy backlash from it that caught me quite by surprise.
Oh! I almost forgot! I need to say a great big THANK YOU to Biscuit, Hubman, ASM and M (from Rumblings & Bumblings - I’d link her, but she’s invite only) for playing retro HNT with me yesterday! Maybe it was just myegotistical thinking imagination, but it sure seemed like there was a lot less physical nekkidness out there this week, yet the HNT contributions were every bit as wonderful!
One more thing … who knows what a perdiddle (or padiddle) is? And how many of you hit the roof of the car when you see one? Having grown up on the west coast, I am very familiar with slug bugs, but had never heard of a perdiddle/padiddle until moving to the Chicago area. I guess it’s just one more of those geographical language differences, like soda and pop, or market and grocery store, or “Duck, Duck, Goose” and “Duck, Duck, Grey Duck” (those Minnesota folks have a language all of their own)!

Totally first! I enjoyed the retro HNT very much. As for annoying...annoying is as annoying does. I haven't personally had an issue with anything you've said so...obviously a matter of opinion. I don't know what a perdiddle is. I assume it's some sort of VW car, but can't imagine which one.
Take care,
FMD
You can't keep everyone happy Dana.
FMD, I think it's just me being a little more aware of my words and how they can impact others. Neither blogger made mention of my annoying comments, I just had a moment of clarity.
Richard, nope! I can't! But I can be accountable for my words *grin*
Of course I know what a padiddle is! One day in the last week or so ASM and I were driving somewhere when she suddenly punches me in the arm and calls out "padiddle!" First to see it gets to punch the other. Nice, huh? Just wait 'til I teach Darling Boy this game...
Yeah for Retro HNT!
And first things last (sorry, couldn't resist)...
Have a good weekend!
Oblivious to the slights, and clueless on perdiddle... Guys don't hear what you say sometimes- not our fault!
Duck, Duck, Grey Goose! is more my speed. Speaking of which my son got me a bottle for Christmas, which of course made me think of you. I finally opened it last week. I haven't had vodka in a really long time but compared to what I recall, this was very nice.
As for being annoying, hell there is always someone who will find us annoying, sometimes it is ourselves.
I don't think you are going to lose me even if you try. And we certainly have padiddle here in NJ. But I don't think I ever saw it written out before. I had to sound out the word a few times before I got the gist. LOL.
Have a good weekend.
Uhmmm......I didn't notice any comments from you that were annoying or inappropriate. But, I do appreciate the apology.
I learned both padiddle and slug bug. Padiddle you hit the ceiling of the car, while slug bug you get to slug someone.
And, because of where I lived in Iowa, so close to the Minnesota border, I played both "Duck, Duck, Goose" and "Duck, Duck, Grey Duck".
Nice one Dana I love these mixed up blogs with a bit of everything, they are a bit like me !!!
Have a good weekend
Thanks you so much for your comments on my blog they were pricless and really helped me.... your a super star !
Take care,
Laters
Nicey

I think this "Duck, Duck, Grey Goose" game is right up my alley! LOL
Have a wonderful weekend, Ms. Positively Going! ;)
I was happy to play along :) I wasn't in a nekkid kind of mood.
I'm glad you liked it.
I don't find you annoying at all. I must go search out these comments to see for myself.
I agree...you can't make everyone happy. And if you were to try it would be a thankless task. Gaining new readers is a nice consolation though. :)
LOL about 'first things first'. So totally true!
Hehehe...Minnesota chiming in here as she drinks a can of pop that she got from the grocery store after playing Duck, Duck, Grey Duck, but before she saw a padiddle AND a slug bug! We DO have a language all our own, ya know! At least it seems that way to people in other states. :) I must say, though, that Duck, Duck GREY GOOSE sounds pretty darn good.
I, too, liked this Friday Fragments-type of post, Dana--kinda fun! I think it's a good thing when we anal retentive ones occasionally throw caution to the wind and do an "all over the place" post. HA!
I also know where you're at with your moment of clarity on being more careful with word choices, or sometimes the "tone" of the words, or even the "keeping it real" thing. There have been several times that I have had those moments, too--and I think they're a good thing. For a very long time, I have seriously been trying to keep the "IT IS NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY TO TREAT OTHERS TO MY OPINION" saying in mind. I guess one of the good things of getting older is that I don't feel the need to always say what is on my mind. Even if I'm joking around, not everyone gets my humor. I like to lighten up and laugh, but I am not and never have been the type of person that goes for mean, biting type of humor. Life is hard enough for most people, without getting it from friends, too. If that makes any sense.
The bottom line is...I'm with ya on this. And I loved your retro HNT. It reminded me that I MUST hunt down a Girl Scout or two soon. And that you have beautiful hands.
How was Cam's birthday? Pix?
Have a good weekend, Dana.
Wait do you mean the snarkiness you used on my Valentine's Day post? Or the post where I talked about planning the wedding?
I never noticed the snarkiness...bwahahahaahahahahahahah
Sweetie...just that you come sit on The Couch and comment is enough for me...even if you just are totally snarky...Now as to you EVER RECEIVING ANOTHER CD FROM ME!!!!
bwahahahahahahahahaha that was a joke, ya know...
ummm slug bug? perdiddle? ummm do you mean "punch buggy (insert color here)"????
Whether you are telling us about how you want things different or you telling us how things are great, no matter to me...I love it here...
Personally, I prefer HNT when the nakedness is not the entire subject of the post. I thought the original intent was to tease not reveal.
Grand weekend my friend.
And don't forget those mean-spirited and thoughtless comments you left on MY blog. How rhude!
Oh wait! No you didn't. Never mind. ;-)
So who was it that you "lost?" Let me know if you want me to go deliver a beat down on your behalf. I never took the "Positive Pledge" ya know. hahahahahaha
I don't comment all the time, but I read what you have to say every time you post. You have the right attitude. If people don't like what you have to say that is their problem. I look forward to seeing what you have to say next.
Hubman, no way! You know what a padiddle is? I guess the east coast is in the "know"!
Buff, now see, I'd have thought you'd have been on the padiddle bandwagon ... hmmm ...
g-man, that's it! I'm starting a new game - Duck, Duck, Grey Goose! Want to help me out with the rules?
Karen, another east coast verification. Maybe padiddle isn't quite as regional as I thought.
Emmy, it was my "corrective" comment - I did something similar on ASM's blog a few weeks ago. Annoying ...
Nicey, I'm glad that I could help. I've been down your path and still travel it frequently, although I'm in a different place on it that you are.
RLL, can we play Duck, Duck, Grey Goose in the boobie tube?? Now that would be a good time!
M, it's when I fall into the extreme geek mode that I border on annoying!
Vixen, there are a few of those things that drive me nuts ... like 8AM in the morning. Hello? You already said AM, that kind of makes it morning!
Kim, at least you don't drink out of bubblers. Those Wisconsin folks have some strange language issues too!
Bond, me? Snarky?? Well, I never! Well, maybe once in a while I do, but don't tell anyone!
Jay, let's just say I'm looking for a new blog crush ... are you available??
That's all I get from my long, wel thought out comment...
HARUMPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
bwahahahahahah
stupid PC is acting up...can not open any word or excel documents with it crashing...GIVE ME A MAC
So I have a ton of time to wander blogs over and over today
the padiddle game was called something else but I cant recall what at the moment and slug bug is the same as punch buggy isnt it?
oh Dana! You simply must take a drive (a long one) with more than half of my daughters in the car with you. You simply must. You can padiddle to your heart's delight, and slug bug too and then, there's something about smacking the roof of the car when the car goes thru a yellow light. It's quite a concert.
First things first is a stupid saying. I have never heard of a perdiddle. The name is just silly if it applies to a slug. The perfect name for a slug is slug, ugh. I have to google perdiddle now. You have a splendid weekend Dana.
Now I understand the picture of the car with a headlight out :)
