Show and Tell

~*~*~

It's that time of the year again - Delurker Day! Anyone willing to expose themselves??

~*~

This was kind of fun last week so I thought I'd do it again!

~Thirteen things I'd like to do but will likely let some
irrational fear keep me from accomplishing
~

1. Play clarinet or saxophone in a community band after not playing for almost 30 years

2. Get my Commercial Drivers License

3. Spend a year living in abroad with Cam, preferably in Africa

4. Go to law school

5. Become an LPN (I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up)

6. Show my photography in the gallery at church

7. Take oil painting classes

8. Buy a "hobby" farm and live off the land

9. Spend our summers as Work Camper's

10. Learn to speak Spanish

11. Move back to Washington

12. Become a CASA volunteer

13. Fall in love

I'd love to throw open my coat! But alas, everyone's seen me here plenty.

What a great list of absolutely fantastic things! #13...just do it!

Ah Dana...Do #6...heck ..don't put your name on them if you are fearful

#7 - anyone in the class will have less or as much talent as you

#10 you can do that at home with Rosetta Stone

#13 after a while you will find you can't help but opening your heart and if you do that love will find you and this time - after all you have learned - it will be sweet love

Speaking Spanish is easy. Any of the "romance" languages (Spanish, French, Italian, etc.) are very similar to English or Latin. You can figure it out.

Your photos are beautiful...Approach a local gallery or artsy bookstore for a showing, I'm sure one look at your portfolio would be all they'd need to say "Sure!" :-)

I undertook learning Polish a few years ago. Now to be honest, I could speak basic, conversational Polish and understand most everything said. But I learned grammar and to read and to really, really speak. And when given the opportunity I still listen to what is said to me in Polish and answer in English.

CDL??? Interesting.

I like that list...I usually give myself a few goals each year as well and some of them are very similar to yours.

I don't lurk, so I'll spare you the over exposure. But I will say hi (HI!) and let you know I'm copying your Thursday Thirteen format. Well, not exactly, but the idea, ya know?

Make you a deal too - You take care of #1 (in all ways that applies), and join a community band, I will match you and get re-involved with a choir - church, barbershop, something.

I had a CDL for years but I let it expire and went with a regular operators license. CDLs in Ohio are expensive. Cheers and I hope you do everyting on your list!!

That is a good list! I think that if you concentrated enough you could do all of them. I give kudos to your creativity.

Today is Delurking Day? Dammit. I didn't know that. Somebody needs to tell me these things in advance.

I want alpacas on my hobby farm. ;-)

Damn, and I sooo love lurking......Great list,I bet you would be good at any/all of them!

Bette, I might cave and do #6, and maybe even #7 if I can find a community class offering, but #1?? That's asking a lot!

Real Live Lesbian, you're already "out", there is no putting you back in!

Bond, I forgot about Rosetta Stone. I wonder if I can check those out from my library? Hmmmm ....

Evil Twin's Wife, I was one of those silly people who took GERMAN in high school. Obviously I was completely unaware of the uselessness of that language!

Karen, that's about where I am with German, although I'm lacking in the speaking part. I suppose I might be able to learn Spanish with a little dedication.

Salt and Pepper, so good to see you here! I had no idea you still stopped by!

Brian, there is such a thing as over-exposure? CRAP! A challenge! Guess I had better contact the middle school band director and see if she knows of any opportunities out there.

Matt-Man, you could have moved from beer mine to beer delivery! Or not ... I'm guessing there would be far less cleavage in beer delivery!

Joker_SATX, I think if I didn't worry so much about looking foolish, and I wasn't such a perfectionist when it comes to my own performance I might be able to conquer the irrational fear.

Jay, I cannot believe that you - the ultimate stalker - missed an opportunity to have all of your readers expose themselves to you!

Granny Nanny, nahhh ... it's good to come out of the lurking corner once in a while!

#6 should be and easy one. Take dozen or so of your best work. Get it framed and set em up at the next church bizarre or bake sale. Give a 10% donation to the church for each one you sale. You do great work Dana. Time show off some of your work. I never thought about being a TV producer but I got out there, got the training and now I'm doing it. I have 3 shows in production and more to come. I know you can do this. I believe in you!

I clicked your link from Doc's site and if I click away without commenting? LURKER :)

I hope you join the community band. After 30 years it would take practice but I bet it would be worth it. My daughter plays the Sax and it is a cool intrument.

Not a lurker but hi anyway. :)

Good luck with you list.

I quit lurking a long time ago but i comment infrequently. as for number 13, I felt like that too after She Who Left In The Middle Of The Night departed. Love will find a way when you least expect it.

#8 is not only my dream, but my goal in life. Consider me properly de-lurked.

Vixen said...

Sadly my 'hobby farm' makes no money and when pple ask me if it's a 'working' farm I always laugh and tell them that if 'working' the mean ME, then yes, it's a working farm ;)

LOL

Don't let your fears get in the way of too many of those!

Shiny Rod, my church actually does rotating member art - they have a creative arts department that sets up themes and displays items throughout the church that members have designed. I think I might just be encouraged enough by all of this to contact them and see how I can become a part of that.

jennifer, welcome! Any friend of Doc's is a ... well ... bit deranged, but that's my kind of reader!

Ashleigh, *waves* The fact that you aren't a lurker makes you no less important!

Dana said...

Howard Bagby, I'm the same way at your blog - a daily reader but an infrequent commenter. Love is a fickle thing for me right now - not even sure I want to be bothered with it!

Jules, Hey! It's a lurker-no-more! So we share #8 do we? I've often thought I'd have made someone a wonderful farm wife, but maybe I should change that to being a wonderful farmer?!

Vixen, my goal would be self-sustaining - financially anyway. Is there such a thing as a farm that isn't a working farm?

I really enjoy your blog and read daily. I mostly lurk, but have come out occasionally.

I don't lurk. If I visit, I comment- unless I have commented already and was checking for new posts.. That's just simply polite, don't you think?

Alfro said...

Shit,
(Oops, it is ok to curse here? Isn't it?)
I stopped by earlier, and have been racked with guilt all day....
I figured I better acknowledge my visit, or you would track me down by my IP address, and slap me silly. I'm deathly afraid of being considered a "Lurker".

And, I was glad to see you figured out the whole "Hobby" farm thing. Kind of an oxymoron thingy...

Jaimey said...

*flash*! not that I have lurked in a long time! I enjoy keeping up with you. Glad you are doing well. Here's to a great 2010 for us all. hugs.

I must Delurk. I have been stalking you for a few months. I am a follower but I have never commented. I found you through RLL and have been reading back posts to catch up. You are an amazing woman who has clearly been through your fair of crap in life. I would love to see you do all of the things on your list but I say start with one and that will lead to something else! I am really enjoying getting to know you via your blog.
