When I get change from a vending machine purchase I always leave it in the change return, hoping that whomever finds it will feel a little special - at least for a few minutes.

What a coincidence! I always feel special when I find change in a change return! Seriously, a great act of random kindness on your part. And anonymous too. The best kind.
It never occurred to me someone might be leaving that change on purpose. I think the next time I pocket change that wasn't mine, I'll be smiling for a different reason. Then again, maybe, from your example, I'll leave with a pocket of kindness rendered rather than change tendered. I love the idea. Thanks for sharing.
That's a nice gesture. I never throw empty coke or beer cans in the litter when I'm outdoors, i.e. downtown. I put them beside the litter box instead, so that the persons that needs to collect cans and bottles for extra money don't have to mess around in the garbage for the 10 ¢ can.
You're not gonna believe this, but this morning I got a Pepsi from a vending machine that charges $1.25 for a 20 oz bottle. There was .75 cents in the change return tray. So I took one quarter to go along with my dollar bill and left the other two quarters for the next people who wanted a Pepsi.
what do you mean you load up a gumball machine and those fifty cent trinkets...with 'prizes'..
I 'sponsor' a couple 'street people' guys I have been helping for years not only with money but clothes and shoes too. (sponsor is my term I use when they know me and I am with friends who freak out -I use the term with my friends to put them at ease - I have lived in a bad neighborhood that is now turning good for years and years - remember I am from New Mexico)
DB, that wasn't very clear, was it? Those machines that have the little trinkets or wrapped candies? I'll put a few quarters in the slots so that someone can get one for free!
tt, I've been the recipient of karma too many times to ignore it!
Corky, me or someone just like me!
Nicey, one of the tricks is that I can't do this if someone is waiting behind me to use the vending machine because they almost always try to give me the money I "forgot."
You are such a kind soul. I can imagine how excited those kids are when they get a super bouncy ball, or when someone finds a nickel for to put with their change so they get that bag of chips.

FMD
Yep I agree. I get a kick out of finding change in the change return. Like when I was a kid and would always check the Pay Phones coin return; score!
That is kewl! I know it would bring a smile to my face. I would probably go out and buy a lottery ticket that day too!
FMD, my *evil* plan is working!
Lu, I know that I am always surprised when I find extra change.
Kannon7, and you might even get a winner with that change!
Take that change you found, and give it to the first kid you see under the age of six. It's worth it..

Ha. What a great idea. Cheers Dana!!
Buff, I've been known to load up a gumball machine, or those $0.50 trinket machines with "prizes" too!
Tree, before I started doing this I felt "bad" when someone forgot their change and always wished I had a way to return it to them!
Matt-Man, it's a *feel-good* for everyone, including me!
What a very cool thing to do. YOur Sunday Secret posts helped inspire my show topic.
That is a great thing. Random acts of kindness are the best.
Costs so little.. makes big ripples.
Excellent Dana!

Turnbaby, just don't get too carried away revealing those secrets *wink*
Karen, the only time I don't do it is if someone is in line behind me because then they try to give it back!
Anndi, a smile is all that I can hope for!

Whenver I notice change I assume someone forgot it and I leave it for the person that might actually be looking for change.

d2b, see? And that little thing makes someone's life a bit easier too!
Jay, seriously? You mean I'm not the only one?? And you even saved a little joy for the next person!
Knight, and yet another way to put a little joy in someone's life.

you understand Karma huh!
special girl you are.
I love finding money in the vending machine. It makes my insides tingle. I should have known it was from you. ;)
Thats well sweet - Do you find that you have queues of people following you to the vending machine ; )
tt, I've been the recipient of karma too many times to ignore it!

What a WONDERFUL idea!

Great idea! If you don't mind, I will use it next time and from here on out, when I have change from a machine I will also leave it.
That's Cool and Classy.
