Sunday Secret

Although life has not always been fair to me, I still expect it to be. One of these days I'll quit setting myself up for disappointment.

  1. When you figure out how to do this.... let me know.

  2. I always tell my kids the fair is in August.

They don't like that answer either.

  3. If I figure it out first I'll email you and let you know. If you figure it out first, you can do the same. K? ;-)

    Happy Easter!

  4. I'd like in on that e-mail chain. Maybe if we all put our heads together ...

I love your Sunday secrets Dana, they just hit me each and every time and I really should remember to tell you that more often.

  8. It's a vicious circle. If we don't think positive we become pessimists... as a pessimist we don't have to be disappointed, but we aren't likely to get good results thinking like that...

    Vicious...

  9. I'm in the same boat...

  10. Does fair depend on circustance or perspective?
Choice or situations forced upon one?

    Be prepared for the worst
    hope for the best
    then deal with the reality.
    right?

  11. Leighann, based on the comments, if I can write a book I'll make millions!

Jeff, I can't believe I've never heard that one, but I really like it!

Jay, I didn't see any email from you - does that mean I need to keep working on it?

  12. Dianne, I'll add you to the list!

DB, so the trick is playing only when you know you can win?

Corky, maybe it already is and I'm just not seeing it?

  13. Karen, in all reality, I won't. As corny as it sounds, the one thing I've always struggled to hold on to is hope.

Nick, it's not such a terrible secret, is it?

R.E.H., I'm a firm believer in you get what you think you deserve. I don't want to think about what life would look like if I quit hoping for the best.

  14. Birdman, I think we need a bigger boat.

Sage, I vote perspective! Your point is well taken, and I too, tend to subscribe to the "prepare for the worst, hope for the best" school of thought.

  15. I read in a book many years ago- "Life ain't fair, and I hope you never thought it would be". A good plan, a few rules, a little luck, and an optimistic outlook is all we can do... The rest just happens!

  16. Today's a good day to start expecting the best. You'll be surprised how it will change your life!

    ReplyDelete
  17. That would then make you a pessimist....

Nothing wrong with being a "careful optimist"?

    ReplyDelete
  18. no thats not it....what I meant was winners feel it was fair....its a perspective issue

  19. Buff, I've always said it's better to be lucky than good!

RLL, you really are a "role model" in that respect. It's one of the things I admire about you!

Slick, yeah ... and I've often thought pessimists take the "easy" way out. It's that "careful" part of optimism I need to work on.

  26. Bina, as much as I would like to quit expecting good things, I don't want to quit expecting good things!

DB, nekkid-ness is available on Thursdays only!

Matt, I can't read your comments 'cause I'm staring at the beauty of baldness!

  27. Anndi, I know ... I know ... pain is good - but why doesn't this feel as good as a slap on the ass?
